Accessible Care Pathways

Safe House Psychology offers a range of accessible options for clients to engage in psychological support. Sessions are available privately, through Medicare’s Better Access scheme with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral letter, via the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for self-managed and plan-managed participants, as well as under WorkCover and CTP.

Private Billing

Client will not require a referral from any relevant treater to access Psychological Services at Safe House Psychology. Services can be paid for and claimed through Private health insurance, if the client wishes to choose this option. Please note, no rebate is provided under private billing

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS - Self or Plan Managed Only)

Safe House Psychology provides services to individuals under the National Disability Insurance Scheme, with flexibility to engage clients of all ages whom are self and/or plan managed.

Mental Health Care Plan (MCHP) & Medicare

Clients will have the option to obtain a Mental health Care Plan and referral letter from a General Practioner (GP), and/or any relevant treaters (Pediatrician, Specialists, and Psychiatrists), in order to obtain a rebate, for up to 10 sessions per year. See our services page for more information.

Work Cover and Return to Work

Safe House Psychology has a number of Workcover and SIRA approved clinicians, who can provide services in clinic, or via telehealth. Clients will require a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from a General Practioner (GP) and written pre-approval from their insurer, prior to attending their initial consultation.

Fee Guidelines

At Safe House Psychology, we aim to keep mental health support as accessible as possible.

The Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee for a 46–60 minute psychology session is $318 for 2025–2026. Our session fees are set well below this recommended fee, and we offer a range of services to support affordable access to care.

Because fees and rebates can vary depending on the type of appointment, clinician, and referral pathway, we encourage you to contact our friendly team so we can explain the fees, rebates, and expected out-of-pocket costs clearly before you book.

Your out-of-pocket cost may also be reduced if you are eligible for a Medicare rebate under a valid Mental Health Care Plan.

Medicare rebates from 1 July 2026 are:

  • General Psychologist: $101.55

  • Clinical Psychologist: $149.05
